As we mentioned in our last blog, biological pollutants can be a problem for many people and cause some nasty health issues. If you are concerned that bio pollutants are causing your health problems, consider the following questions. It should also be noted, however, that because the symptoms caused by bio pollutants are very similar to many other health problems, you must make sure that you get an accurate diagnosis from your doctor.

If you suffer from tiredness, headaches, stuffy nose, dry throat, fever, trouble breathing, etc. do your symptoms tend to go away when you spend time out of doors?

Do you have high levels of indoor humidity? Do you notice water collecting on hard surfaces? Can you smell musty or moldy odors in the house that indicate signs of water intrusion?

When was the last time you changed or cleaned the filters on your air conditioning units or humidifiers?

Have you recently had any storm windows installed, weatherstripping, insulation work, or any other energy conservation work done on your home? If you have, did you notice your health problems began before or after work was started?

Likewise, if you have just moved house, did your problems start after the move or before?

If you can answer yes to some or all of the above questions, inform your doctor so that they can determine whether bio pollutants are affecting you.
